The Matchmaker is a hugely complex matching system based on yours - and every other members - profile. It relies on matching what you say about yourself, your basic details such as religion, place you stay, nationality, etc, with the details of other members who fit your basic search profile. The Matchmaker is a program which tears apart your profile and puts it back together again with your potential best matches. The basis is a program which is run every day at midnight and midday GMT. This program takes several minutes to run and executes over 424,975 queries just to set up the basics.

When you call the matchmaker it examines everyone who fills the basic criteria - i.e. if you're a woman looking for a man, then it matches you against men looking for women - and then examines every thing about you and your matches to find the closest.

This can take several minutes to run. Typically over 100,000 data points are examined, which means that the matchmaker can take five minutes to examine all the information. Equally, it requires a minimum amount to run on so if your profile is too short, it won't work for you.

Because of this the server load can be pretty high as well. So you can only run the matchmaker twice every day, after midnight, and after midday GMT.
