"Another type of fraud is by persons claiming to live in Ghana who profess friendship or romantic interest over the Internet. Once a relationship has been established, the correspondent typically asks the American to send money for living expenses, travel expenses, or visa costs. Sometimes a “hospital” or “doctor” telephones to say that the friend has suffered an “accident” and needs immediate financial assistance to cover medical bills. There are other variations of this scam, but all of them are attempts to get money. Americans have reported losing thousands of dollars through such scams. The anonymity of the Internet means that the victim cannot be sure of the real name, age, marital status, nationality, or even gender of the correspondent. In most cases reported to the Embassy, the correspondent turned out to be a fictitious persona created to lure Americans into sending money." USA Department of State

"Ghana is a conservative and deeply religious country. Although modern and progressive attitudes also prevail, respect must be shown for traditional values and morals. Beachwear should be confined to the beach, and wearing immodest clothing in public is likely to cause offence or attract unwanted attention. The wearing of military apparel such as camouflage clothing by civilians is prohibited.

Homosexuality in Ghana is illegal. Although there is a small gay community, there is no "scene" and a large portion of Ghanaian society does not accept that such activity exists."The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

"Kente is an Asante ceremonial cloth hand-woven on a horizontal treadle loom. In a total cultural context, kente is more important than just a cloth. It is a visual representation of history, philosophy, ethics, oral literature, moral values, social code of conduct, religious beliefs, political thought and aesthetic principles."Ghanain Government.
