Refugees

There is no way to apply for refugee status outside of the UK. You have to get to the border and apply there. In order to apply for refugee status you have to have a well-grounded fear of persecution in your home country on grounds of ethnic origin, social background, political or religious beliefs. You can't apply to be a refugee if you are merely escaping hunger or poor work prospects. Once you get to the UK and you've applied for asylum you're not allowed to work, and you have very few rights. The asylum process can take years to complete. It's basically the hardest way to go to the UK and probably not worth considering unless you are genuinely in fear of your life.

If you can't fulfil any of these criteria then it's pretty difficult.
