Beginnings

AfrikaDating started off as more or less as a hobby. Firstly, I was passionate about connecting Africa to the rest of the world. We now live in the UK - as do a million Africans, but originally are from Uganda. Secondly, I wanted to learn programming - specifically PHP and MySQL. This site runs on these two things. The technical stuff you can read below. Thirdly, I'd had a number of good experiences on previous dating websites, including travelling back to Africa to meet people I'd met on the internet. I paid for these dating websites, but this one is free, because as much as I liked using the services, I was PO'd that someone somewhere was getting cash by connecting the rich world to the poor world and more or less exploiting both. Fourthly, relationships between people are one of the ways that people are able to think about other worlds, moving and learning more about the world.

I finally married in Africa. My wife and kids now live here in the UK, my wife born and bred in Uganda, me from there, but now British.
